A 3-track EP featuring some solo piano music, written and performed by Alberto Rizzo Schettino in 2003. Re-recorded live in January 2004 at The NAMM Show in Aneheim, CA.
Each track was written and recorded, on-the-fly, in one day, for a total of three days of sessions. Each song was improvised, then put to paper and then 3 to 5 takes were recorded for each one. The best takes became the EP you are listening to, now.
It was a great experience to try and capture three improvisations in what I think became one of the most inspiring weeks of my life. I hope you enjoy.
In 2004 I had contacted Kurzweil Music Systems and had the pleasure to be invited at the NAMM Show 2004 to perform these songs live, along with other improvisations, at the Kurzweil booth. Among other star players, I had the pleasure to share the stage with musicians like Jordan Rudess (Rudess/Morgenstein Project, Dixie Dregs, Dream Theater, Liquid Tension Experiment), Nick Smith (Stanley Clarke, Stevie Wonder) and David Rosenthal (Billy Joel, Steve Vai, Robert Palmer).
You can imagine being 23 years old at the time (and having written these piano pieces when I was just 22) I was literally shaking from fear! These amazing musicians were super friendly and made the events one of the most formidable memories of my life!
